Perhaps direct laryngoscopy (DL) is becoming a dying art. Is this move in the name of safer airway management or does this represent a risk to patient care? In accepting video laryngoscopy as superior to direct laryngoscopy we have inadvertently facilitated a self fulfilling prophecy and are potentially witnessing a loss of an essential skill.
